Community Library Update

The book library is going from strength to strength but did you realise we also have over 50 DVDs available to borrow?
So if you fancy a change from wall to wall Olympics, why not pop down to the village hall on Monday mornings and choose a DVD?
Just a few of our titles are “Black Swan” (Natalie Portman), 24 – Redemption (Kiefer Sutherland), Coco Before Chanel (Audrey Tatou) and Open Range (Kevin Costner) but for a full list of our current books and DVDs available click on this link

New addition to the Community Library!

From Monday 30th July, when the Community Library is open, we will also have a ‘Community Jigsaw’ on the go, so why not pop in, have a complimentary cuppa with us and complete a piece or two of jigsaw then, choose a book to go home with.

If you have bored kids during the school holidays, why not bring them down to the village hall to help complete the jigsaws too – everyone is welcome (as are donations of jigsaws – no pieces missing please).

The Community Library is open every Monday Morning 10am – 12 in the village hall. We look forward to seeing you!

Parent and Toddler Group – Summer Opening!

Good news for the local Parent and Toddler Group! We are going to stay open during the summer holidays because families are enjoying the weekly play sessions. The playgroup meets every Wednesday morning (10am until 11.30am) in Sand Hutton Village Hall.

The group is informal and relaxed and the Mums, Dads, Grandparents etc have a cup of tea or coffee whilst the little ones play and enjoy the space in the Village Hall. The charge is only £2 per family which includes drinks and snacks.

For more information, please contact Laura Edwards on 468207 or pop in and see us on a Wednesday morning!

New ‘Knit and Natter’ Group for Sand Hutton and Claxton

Welcome to the new ‘Knit and Natter’ group starting on Monday 3rd September in the village hall, 10.00am to 12.00 on the first Monday of the month (the same time as the Community Library).

Knitters, and indeed natterers of all levels of expertise are welcome to join in sharing skills and ideas over a cuppa, a ball of yarn and a pair of needles. If you haven’t any knitting on the go, come along anyway. Simple knitting is provided; the nattering is up to you.

The group is hosted by Rachel Hirst, who will bring something of interest to knitters to open up the chat each month. Knitters are welcome to join in and bring their own contributions. Rachel is a member of the U.K. Hand Knitting Association. This aims to promote hand knitting in the community and schools. For loads more exciting information, take a look on the UKHA website www.ukhandknitting.com

Can’t knit? Forgotten how? As rusty as your needles?

Rachel will be very happy to teach you the basics in your own home in exchange for a mug of coffee. Materials are provided, and she will make sure you have something to bring with you to the group. Tuition usually takes about 1 hour.

There is no charge for the meeting or tuition so how can you resist?

Come and meet Rachel and her needles at the Saturday Social on the 11th August.

For more information, or to book a free lesson phone Rachel on 01904 468336
