Village Show This Saturday

Still time to put your entries in for the Village Produce Show this Saturday. Turn up at the Village Hall between 8am-10am on Saturday and you will be given your exhibitor number and stickers for the classes you have decided to enter. It would be lovely to see more children’s entries.

The show opens at 2pm when you are invited to view all the exhibits and take part in the chocolate taste trial. To keep with the theme of ‘Chocolate’ there will be fruit kebabs for dipping in a chocolate fountain. Wowee! Plus the cycling ice cream man will be with us again, keeping us cool with his delicious ices. And why not bid for a prize winning chocolate cake for your tea time at the famous auction of produce.

See you there.

Reminder : Wine Academy Wine Tasting Event – 23rd November

Wine tasting in the Village Hall run by The Wine Academy !

Whilst a few people responded enthusiastically to the original e-mail inviting people to a wine tasting in the Village Hall – overall the response has been limited.

One or two people have sensibly asked about transport to/from Claxton/Sand Hutton – if there is enough interest we would look to see how we might organise this.

If you are interested in coming but haven’t let me know yet please e-mail

ps. full information around the proposed event can be seen at the link here

Village Produce Show

Only 9 days to go before the Village Show. Still time to print off your favourite Photos, or create something for some of the handicraft classes. And how about trying out a new recipe to wow the judge?

Check the veg plot, there might be something quietly growing that you could bring along. The recent rains will have helped to swell your marrows!!

To help you we are publishing the helpful hints on the parish website, check them out HERE (opens in new window)

Changing Times for Our Playgroup

We had a very special playgroup (Parent and Toddlers) party yesterday to celebrate a milestone for 2 of our regular children. We had jelly, homemade buns, balloons, party games, dancing and lots of excitement. Thomas and Esther are going to school in September and we hope they are very happy as they move onto primary school – we will miss you!
There is no playgroup next Wednesday (29th August) but there will be a group in the first week of September. If any families want to join in the fun, we run from 10am to approx 11.30am in the Village Hall at Sand Hutton on Wednesdays. There are lots of toys and activities and children aged between 0 and 5 years are welcome – they just need to bring a grown up with them. The parents, grandparents, carers etc get to have a cup of tea, a chat and a play too!
For further information, please contact Laura Edwards 468207. Please support your local groups and use our lovely village hall.

Community Library Update

The Community Library will be closed on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August. It will re-open at 10am on Monday 3 September.

The next meeting of the Village Hall Committee will take place on Monday 20th August at 7.30pm in the Committee Room, Sand Hutton Village Hall. All are welcome to attend and hear the discussion on use of the hall, maintenance, finances and other current issues.
