Bags 2 School collection 26th March

Please help us to raise funds for Sand Hutton Primary School by collecting any unused clothes, towels, shoes, belts or handbags. For each bag collected we receive approximately £5 and the clothes get to have a second home or are recycled. On our last collection we raised an amazing £400 so thank you for your continued support.

If you did not get a ‘Bags 2 school’ bag delivered to your door, please use an ordinary bin bag. Please leave your bags on the school playground before 9.30am on Wednesday 26th March. It is a great excuse for a spring clear out and helps our local school.

Thank you on behalf of Sand Hutton PTA.

Bags to Sand Hutton School – next Wednesday!

Please help raise funds for our local village school by bringing bags of second hand clothing to Sand Hutton Primary school on Wednesday 24th October. It is a good excuse to have a look through your cupboards and clear out any clothing, bedding, curtains, shoes, belts or handbags that you no longer use.

Just pop the clothes/ materials in a bag eg a bin bag and then you can take them down to the school playground on 24th (pre 9.30am please) or if you prefer, leave the bags visible on your doorstep before 1pm on Tuesday 23rd October and they will be collected that afternoon.

The school receives about £5 for each bag collected (the donations are resold, reused or recycled) and it helps raise funds for really important aspects of school life such as coach hire for school trips, new books for the library, outdoor teaching equipment, wildlife study areas and many other projects. So please have a rummage through your drawers and a clear out and support your local school at the same time!

New School Website Revealed!

The shiny new website for Sand Hutton C E Primary School was unveiled at todays school open day. It has been designed and developed by the ‘Claxton WebTwins’ – Andrew & Martin who have spent the last couple of months stretching pixels and making it the the ‘Probably best Primary School Website in Yorkshire’. Both have daughters who attend the school.

The team were presented with a highly prized ‘Headteachers award’ for their efforts and a bottle of ‘creative sprit’ by Mrs. Wardell. Photographs were specially taken by School Governer James Drury of Flaxton and School Governor Gill Ramsden, also of Flaxton has crafted some beautiful illustrations and a smart new logo based upon the Well at Sand Hutton.

The site contains loads of information for existing and new parents and will be updated regularly by the school team. Prospective parents can download a newly written School Prospectus and New Starters Guide. A diary contains important dates and there are lots of super pictures in the Gallery giving a taste of life at the school.  All three classes have their own pages with articles and pictures of the schools many activities.

The schoolchildren performed their very own song ‘Surfing all over the web’ to celebrate the launch and a special cake was cut (and eaten) to mark the occasion.

Further ideas for the site include some pages on the history of the School and a video ‘TV Programme’ produced by the pupils – watch this space for developments.

To celebrate the launch a ‘Virtual Easter Egg’ has been hidden on the School website and the first pupil to find it will receive a super Chocolate Easter Egg courtesy of the web team.
